Bellavista Independence

A 5yo pure Cleveland Bay gelding we have started under saddle who is ready for his long-term partner. Perfectly suited to an amateur rider with some experience and who works with a trainer on a routine basis.

Indy is an atypical sales horse for us because most of our youngstock sells as youngsters (weanlings, yearlings, two-year olds occassionally, etc..). We purchased Indy back from a buyer, used him for a year of breeding (AI collection) and then slowly began saddlework. Our goal is that he’ll find a human ready to take him forward. While a purebred, he has a work ethic and body type that very much suits someone who wants to hunt him first field, event at non-professional levels, or make a dressage horse out of him. Indy’s price is $30k and his potential significant. These videos were of his second ride this spring after having three months off over the winter.

UPDATE: Indy has been to three shows thus far this spring and summer. He is jumping small courses and his flatwork and transitions are getting really sharp! Check out some of the pictures below.

We have a few other youngsters available including:

  • We were fortunate in that our breeding efforts for 2025 happened on schedule and without any real complications. We added two Cleveland Bay sporthorse fillies to the world! One is for sale upon weaning - Bellavista New Hope (aka Hope). She is by Arena Maestro and out of a warmblood mare that has been very successful in producing fantastic 1/2 CB athletes, Valentine (Holsteiner, Riverman daughter). Last pic below is Hope. Her price is $7,500.

As always, please reach out for additional pics and video. We try to keep things up to date, but there’s always a lot going on. Also, please follow our Facebook/Meta page, Bella Vista Cleveland Bays.

We are often asked about what we have available for sale. What is available changes so please reach out to inquire. Here are some basics about sales:

  • It is rare for us to have horses available that are under saddle. Typically our stock sells when they are young - weaning, yearling, etc. Occasionally, we do have one and if you’ve reached out we know who to contact if a situation arises where we decide to place one we might have kept or one we previously sold comes onto the market.

  • We strive hard to place foals with a home that allows them to reach their potential. Please don’t be offended if we steer to or away from one you might have your eye on. It’s not a sales tactic.

  • We strive to place pure CB fillies with homes that intend to breed them in addition to their ridden or harness careers. The breed needs the numbers to survive - TRULY! We will work with purchasers of pure fillies to help them find a way to meet their needs as well as ensure the genetics of this rare breed continue.

  • If you have interest in a stallion prospect, please start that conversation early. Because stallion homes are few and far between, we often geld colts in order to give them a potentially better life as a ridden horse. That said, we have stallion sons of ours here in the US and Canada, and will gladly work with a potential breeder that wants to bring a Bella Vista colt into their program. We believe in our herd’s genetics and aren’t worried about any cannibalization in such a small breed. The only way Clevelands can fluorish is by new breeders entering the scene.

  • Lastly, we have the most devoted family of owners of Bella Vista horses. People all over the country reach out because of the amazing things that current BV horse owners post on Facebook, Instagram, and other social media. We have multiple folks that have purchased several horses years apart from us because they were so pleased. We want this to continue. We want to stay in contact with our horses and their owners - to hear the good things they are accomplishing and to help troubleshoot potential issues before they become problematic. We genuinely care!
